Hamer Hall

With a seating capacity of 2,466, Hamer Hall is the premier venue for orchestral performance in Victoria and has continued to provide cultural and memorable experiences for the community for many years.

Over 15 years ago, we were engaged to provide a lighting solution and implement an external lighting design that encouraged re-engagement with the audience and non-audience members of the public, ensuring that Hamer Hall has a strong visual presence in the thriving retail and hospitality precinct of Southbank. We also supplied lighting at the base of the famous spire at the Arts Centre Melbourne Spire.

A coloured asymmetrical flood lighting system from Ligman was installed around the perimeter of the building, washing the curved walls and features of the hall. The interplay of light and shadow on the curved walls adds depth and dimension, transforming the appearance of the hall at night and the thoughtful application of these colours contributes to shaping a mood that aligns with the desired atmosphere for cultural and artistic gatherings within this iconic venue.

The consistent performance and longevity of this installation underscore Ligman’s commitment to excellence, showcasing their ability to provide lighting solutions that not only meet aesthetic and functional requirements, but also demonstrates their commitment to durability and reliability. As we reflect and celebrate the sustained success of this project in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, we look forward to providing many more projects in Victoria with Ligman’s established external lighting range.
